Ads Playing Defense During the Big Game

Though seats may remain more butt-less than ever this 55th annual Big Game, advertisers are finding tone to be yet another reason to withdraw their Big Game spots. Many are fearful that in such a schismatic time it’s not worth risking another Kendall Jenner Pepsi Ad or a Gillette Me Too fiasco. Among the many breaking their Big Game ad streak are Ford, Olay, and (most surprising of all) Anheuser-Busch. Others still holding onto their coveted, most-watched-spots are expected to tread lightly and use humor as their harmonizing foundation. We don’t blame them… who could pass up a discount like $5.5 million for 30 seconds of airtime down from last years $5.6?
