The Paddy Don’t Stop

Jameson® Whisky has turned green with envy as Leap Year has pushed this year’s St. Patrick’s Day celebrations to—gulp—Sunday…

 

With a Saturday stolen from the extra calendar day, Irish whiskey brand Jameson has taken matters into their own hands, encouraging consumers to celebrate a day early. How? Well, by creating an entirely new holiday, of course—St. Patrick’s Day Eve. (We suppose “Preliminary Paddy’s Party” was already taken.) Recruiting the help of SNL stars Colin Jost and Michael Che to host a special countdown celebration in Times Square on March 16th, complete with a DJ and a New Year’s Eve-style “rock drop,”  it’s shaping up to be an event to remember—or, if all goes according to plan, forget.

 

The campaign is unique as it’s rooted in poking fun at the Jameson brand and the beloved green beer drinking holiday. We also expect it to be a sham-rockin’ success, not only because of the comedy, but because—let’s be honest—we’re all planning to partake in some St. Paddy’s Day partying the day before. It’s smart to give consumers a real reason to celebrate early, oh, and buy whisky, but we suppose we won’t truly know until it’s all clover and done with.
